Part 2 : 3 Skills to Reduce Anxiety
When we step into something new, our first instinct is often anxiety. What if I fail? What if I look foolish? What if I can’t do it?
But what if we shifted that energy into curiosity?
What might I discover? What could I learn about myself? What if this is the start of something meaningful?
Growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones. It happens when we choose to start again.
Being a beginner teaches us to be patient with ourselves. To stay curious when we’re uncomfortable. To stay present when outcomes are unclear.
It’s not just about acquiring a new skill. It’s about cultivating internal qualities that help us navigate life:
- Humility: Accepting that mastery begins with not knowing.
- Courage: Continuing even when we feel awkward or unsure.
- Curiosity: Not rushing through discomfort, but meeting it mindfully.
These qualities matter. They shape how we parent, relate, lead, and heal. They help us loosen our grip on perfectionism and build a deeper connection to the present moment.
When we begin again, we rewire our nervous systems to tolerate uncertainty—and that’s where real growth begins.
We’re not just learning something new. We’re learning to live differently.
In Part 3, I’ll share about my own experience cultivating curiosity, courage, and humility while learning something new.
