Breaking the Pattern: Reflection, Love, and the Willingness to See
The beliefs that shape us most often go unseen. Embedded in our identity, they rarely get questioned. They guide choices, relationships, and interpretations—quietly, powerfully, and invisibly.
Sometimes, something disrupts this flow. A conflict, a conversation, or a new experience shakes the lens. It feels uncomfortable. We push back, defend, or dismiss. These moments—though destabilizing—can be openings.
When we’re willing to stay curious instead of defensive, something new can emerge: recognition. Awareness. And with it, a question: What would it feel like to relate to this part of me, rather than from it?
Bell Hooks once wrote that love is “the will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth.” Love in this form is not always gentle. It’s reflective. It demands truthfulness and care.
This is the work of deep healing: not fixing what is broken, but seeing what has gone unseen—with love.
