From Fear to Completion

As anxiety and insecurities are faced and worked with, the final stages of process begin to show up, and in these final phases, new energy, a sense of purpose and accomplishment, and empowerment are found.

Anxious Marks – Movement resumes under pressure. Gestures feel weighted. The work becomes cloudy. This mirrors how anxiety affects clarity and momentum.

Utter Messiness – The crash. Doubt, shame, and isolation arise. There’s an urge to fix—but often, the only real step is to pause. This is a critical turning point in both art and life.

Nothing to Lose – After despair comes surrender. With nothing left to prove, expression becomes honest and free. This is where presence outweighs outcome.

Frantic Working – Flow returns with urgency and immersion. The process takes over. There is empowerment in this stage—deep engagement, a sense of capability, and aliveness.

Feel the End Coming – The energy slows. Observation sharpens. A quiet knowing begins to surface: the work is almost complete.

Stopping on the Upswing – Discernment is essential. Knowing when to stop protects the integrity of the work. Overworking can flatten what was once alive. Sometimes, not recognizing the ending means starting again.

Using a creative process as a tool, the emotional arc of many of life’s processes become visible. When we begin to notice where we are in the process, we’re better able to meet ourselves with compassion and understanding.

Reflection
